There’s something about Madrid’s streets. Lined with luxury stores, historic buildings, homely taverns, the lanes of this Spanish city manage to blend an old-wordly charm with a burst of youthful energy. Here are some of our favourite streets in Madrid!
Gran Via
Known as the Spanish Broadway this is our favourite of all the streets in Madrid. This magnificent main artery of Madrid offers amazing architecture, with art deco skyscrapers, historic theatres and a painterly sky overhead. You’ll get a stunning view from the balcony of your hotel room, as well as from the Gourmet Experience, situated atop El Corte Inglés store.
Calle Fuencarral
Get a feel of the local life with a stroll down tree-lined Calle Fuencarral, where life is slow and a good coffee shop is never far. The beautiful architecture is bound to capture your gaze as you stroll.
The street begins at the Gran Vía and extends until the Chamberí neighbourhood. The pedestrian-only section of the street is lined with modern fashion labels, spunky young designer shops, and a variety of restaurants.
Our Secret: Don’t miss Mercado de San Ildefonso – a food market that spans three floors.
Calle de las Huertas
It’s calm and beautiful to walk on. The names of Spain’s literature giants glitter in gold along the pavement. At night, the tapas bars fill with locals. Knock back a mojito or three while live music plays.
End a day of strolling through Madridian streets with a meal at one of the local taverns. We recommend El Cisne Azul!
