By Shubhra Krishan

The Lodge at Winchcombe is located in the heart of the British Cotswolds. This elegant retreat charms you from the moment you step inside. Every corner reflects meticulous attention to detail, with plush furnishings, soft lighting, and modern amenities adorning each spacious room.

The high-quality linens evoke a sense of refined elegance, while the large windows offer enchanting views. Perfect for a weekend getaway with family or friends, this charming property is an idyllic sanctuary.

We headed straight to the Lodge at Winchcombe upon landing at Heathrow airport, London. Throughout the four-hour drive , soft rain kept us company, adding a touch of romance to the scenic countryside journey.

It was as if the large gate into the property was like a metaphor for entering a sanctuary. Cocooned amid swathes of green, the bungalow was a beauty as quietly charming as can be.

Each of us had a cosy, comfortable, and classy individual bedroom.

The hosts welcomed us to a beautiful dining hall with a refreshing spread. We savoured a “Sloegasm” drink, made from sloe berries, preparing us for a restful night.

Enjoy the Scenic Views from the Patio

At dawn, an indescribable sunrise painted the sky in soft hues, accompanied by the joyful melodies of early birds.

I so wish we could have stayed longer. The lodge at Winchcombe has 27 acres of private woodland walks and the historic Sudeley Castle and village of Winchcombe are on your doorstep.

The Lodge at Winchcombe describes itself as a boutique-style hotel, without being a hotel – which is exclusively yours for the whole of your stay – whether it be for a shooting party; a trip to Cheltenham races; a short holiday or maybe to host a special occasion. It really is all of that: boutiquey, exclusive, and yours. The food is excellent, with ingredients sourced from the estate gardens.

The Lodge has 11 bedrooms, four individual reception rooms and fully stocked bars to make you stay a pleasant and relaxing experience.

Unwind, relax or celebrate… The Lodge has the space to adapt to your occasion. On the first floor, the bar opens out onto a patio overlooking the surrounding Cotswold countryside… stunning on a summer’s day.
