A Fun Day in Amsterdam For Just 80 Euros

We bring you a bouquet of ideas from a local!

A Fun Day in Amsterdam For Just 80 Euros: We asked our Holland Correspondent, the fun, feisty fashionista and eco-boutique owner Mariel van den Donk, to suggest how to spend a beautiful evening in Amsterdam with just 80 Euros in hand. Look what our girl in Holland came up with:

Holland is a small country, every city is pretty much ‘nearby’. It is a great advantage when going out. Tonight I have a budget of 80 euros for which you can have a lot of fun. I could go to the movies eight times, have 25 sodas in a pub or 20 glasses of wine in a more fancy place.

One thing that catches my eye immediately is electrocross, which is basically riding on an electric motorcycle. If you can ride a bike, you can ride an electrocross motor, they promise you. Moreover, it is completely eco-friendly. I like the speed so why not try it myself!

The Dutch don’t like to waste money or time. So they make the most of their euros. That is why Vakantieveilingen.nl is such a popular site. It’s an auction site where you can bid on an evening out for a nice price. What’s more: you have fun even before you go out.

It costs me only 43.50 euros which leaves me with 35 Euros for a lovely dinner afterwards in many of the restaurants near Leidseplein. And the walk along the beautifully lit canals is for free!

One of my favourite pastimes is going to the movies. I like to do it in style so I prefer Pathé Tuschinski in Amsterdam. Tuschinski is more than a movie theatre; the historic building itself is an adventure to explore. The grandeur, the beauty…You feel like a movie star yourself.

I just love beautiful buildings and I love the thrill of the circus. I’m going to CARRÉ CIRQUE, an impressive nouveau cirque spectacle in Royal Theatre Carré, another one of my historic favourites in Amsterdam, I kill two birds with one stone. And the good news: it costs me only 19.50 for a third rank ticket. Carré, 132 years old, is another one of my historic favourites in Amsterdam.

There is so much to enjoy I wish I could spend my 80 euros over and over again…”
