Valencia is a lovely city with mild weather, cool architecture, a scenic beach and a laid-back vibe. Your stay here will involve a lot of walking, so it’s best to book a hotel close to the city’s key attractions. Straightaway, IlUnion Aqua 4 gets 10/10 for location.
You can’t miss the big black building that stands a fin-swish away from the incredible Oceanogràfic, Europe’s biggest aquarium! Once you’re done gawking at the colourful marine creatures, stroll along the city’s beautifully laid-out park, and you’re at the hotel lobby in 5 minutes flat.
Secret: Don’t miss the Atlantic section and the marvellous Dolphin Show at Oceanogràfic.
You Are Close to Everything You Need
Four floors up, the terrace invites you to step into the hotel or walk one flight of steps down to the plush Aqua Mall, packed with posh stores, a pharmacy, and a cinema hall. There’s a whole floor of cafes and restaurants here, so you’re literally a few steps away from a good bite at any time of the day, and late into the night!
Looking for a gourmet experience? Guess what: You’re in the same building as the Vertical Restaurant, awarded a Michelin Star. The large glass encased walls of the dining room treat you to a spectacular view. It is of The City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia’s most important architectural complex.
Clean, cool and contemporary, the design of the hotel reflects the spirit of the city it is housed in. High ceilings, glass panel façades and plenty of natural light. I loved the cream and wood themed decor, which enhances the sense of space and invites you to relax.
Open your window, and you realise you have a room with a whew! The setting sun makes daily magic in the Valencia sky—transforming it into a giant art gallery.
If I do go back to Valencia, which I would love to, my choice of hotel would be the same: ILUNION Aqua 4.
Know before You Go
Spain is known for its quaint, unique taverns. If you’re going to Madrid, don’t miss Mesón del Champiñón, a tiny mushroom-themed bar in the old city.
