Revealed: Madrid’s Hottest Salsa and Bachata Hangouts

Let’s go dancing with a local

Shaun, a trainee pilot in Madrid, reveals the city’s foot-tapping secrets. “Dance is the hidden language of Madrid’s spirit,” he says. “You will find an artist every 10 meters. Clubs are a melting pot of cultures here.” Let’s hear more about how he started dancing to the rhythm of Madrid.

“I was never a big dancer and only went to clubs with my friends on weekends. My roommate pushed me to accompany him on a blind date at Meet & Dance Madrid one Monday morning. I was unsure what I could do without a date or any dance experience, but I was surprised to be introduced to the universes of Salsa and Bachata. Today I can never miss an occasion to dance.

I’m still not sure if it was my partner Caitlin or my hidden talent that I was not aware about. Salsa and Bachata have given me a fantastic opportunity to learn a new hobby and meet new people in different cities. All thanks to Madrid and all the thriving Salsa and Bachata dancing events, clubs, and schools here.

Here’s my pick of the best:

Meet & Dance Madrid

Dance & Meet is my favourite in Madrid, where you can learn foundational dance skills while meeting people from all over the world. They create a unique, personal dance experience and are truly welcoming to newbies. Held every Tuesday, it is quite popular among the international exchange and full-time students that attend.

Tropical House Madrid

On weekends, Tropical House is one of the greatest discos for salsa and bachata dance. It has a mix blend of locals and tourists, affordable drinks and a DJ who plays the best Latin music to keep you grooving. It is also well-known for hosting ballroom dances in the evenings. Numerous salsa parties are held at this location.

The Host Madrid

The Host is open practically every day of the week. Located near the University of Madrid and prime shopping centres, it is always buzzing with twenty-somethings enjoying their very affordable beer and eats. You may dance with some of the top dance professionals in the world at their well-known parties. Whether you’re a regular customer or a first-time dancer, there’s something for everyone here.

Club Kapital Madrid

Club Kapital is one of the city’s most renowned clubs in Europe. Mainly known for being a 7-floor club, each floor has different music and slightly different vibe. They have a spacious interior and classy aesthetics. The club screams luxury. The cover price is expensive, but does include two free drinks.

El Son Madrid

El Son Madrid is best on Monday nights for Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue dance, located in the city centre. The crowd is a blend of locals, Latinos, and visitors who enjoy Latin rhythms. You will never be short of partners here. It has a welcoming ambiance and the entry covers drinks. You get a variety of options on liquors, especially rum. They have a few classes for beginners. My secret: use the discount coupons on their flyers.

Sala Templo Madrid

This multifunctional disco also offers salsa, bachata, and kizomba dancing. They have live music here and the band is simply unreal.

So, In Madrid every day of the week, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to fun dance clubs. Parties get livelier towards dawn, so try and experience that.”
